Founder & Teacher

James (Jim) Renford Powell

Jim Renford Powell's journey began in Memphis, Tennessee and took him across the globe — through the Far East, the Middle East, and Europe — in pursuit of the universal truths that cut across every tradition, culture, and era.

The Formation of the Institute

After decades of independent study — encompassing the Sumerian Texts, the Bible, the Koran, the Vedas, the Tao, Buddhist teachings, and the works of the great metaphysical teachers — Renford recognized that all of these traditions were pointing at the same underlying laws. He called these the Universal Laws, and from this recognition the Institute was born.

What began as a single manuscript became the curriculum of the Institute of Applied Metaphysics — a three-level degree program that has shaped the study and understanding of thousands of seekers over more than forty years.

The Renford Library

Renford is the author of more than 39 published titles under the IAMPress imprint — covering Universal Law, applied metaphysics, spiritual philosophy, and practical wisdom. His works form the core reading list of all three degree programs.
